THE SYNOPSIS
Becky Nurse of Salem by Sarah Ruhl is a dark comedy about a sharp-witted, descendant of executed witch Rebecca Nurse, who works as a museum guide in modern-day Salem, struggling with her legacy, job loss, and contemporary feminist issues in the “lock her up” era, leading her to consult a modern witch and descend into chaos, tackling history, modern woes, and the opioid crisis with wit and fury.
THE CHARACTERS
Becky – A modern-day descendant of Rebecca Nurse; works at the Salem witch museum and is the central figure of the play.
Bob – a bartender and romantic interest
The Witch – a recurring or symbolic figure
