We are a Salt Lake City based theater company that produces theater that reflects issues, concerns and shared experiences in the lives of women. In this time of daily loss, struggle and suffering across the world, we want to remind you that the arts can fire minds, warm souls, dazzle and delight. We will want them to be there in times ahead, for us and especially for our children. As Ashley Wheater told us, "Live art, the magic of the theater, is one of the few things that can bring total strangers together in unique harmony, reminding us of our humanity."

OUR MOST RECENT GRANT APPLICATION WAS DENIED UNDER DEI PROVISIONS

For more than 20 years, PYGmalion Theatre Company has been honored to receive support from the State of Utah through the Utah Department of Arts and Museums. Recently, we were notified that our grant application has been denied because “it appears to be in conflict with Utah House Bill 261 Equal Opportunity Initiatives.” In other words, our mission—to produce plays that give voice to women—has been deemed discriminatory. Our 2026-2027 SEASON

October 2-17, 2026 Witch, written by Jen Silverman and directed by Morag Shepherd. In a tale that's perfect for Halloween, a charming devil arrives in the quiet English village of Edmonton to bargain for the souls of its residents in exchange for their darkest wishes. Elizabeth should be his easiest target, having been labeled a “witch” and cast out by the town, but her soul is not so readily bought. As the devil returns to convince her — and then returns again — unexpected passions flare, alliances are formed, and the village is forever changed. An inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama, this sharp, subversive fable debates how much our souls are worth when hope is hard to come by.

Pygmalion Theatre Company continues its 2022/23 season with the world premiere of “Mountain Meadows” by Utah playwright Debora Threedy, directed by Morag Shepherd, from Feb. 17 to March 4 at the Rose Wagner Center for Performing Arts located at 138 West Broadway in downtown Salt Lake City. The play braids together two stories, connected by and to the Mountain Meadows Massacre. Nita, granddaughter of a perpetrator, struggles to unearth the truth of the massacre in history. Miranda discovers she is a survivor and attempts to discover the truth of her family’s involvement. Together, their stories tally the cost of refusing to face the truth. The show features Stephanie Howell as Nita, David Hanson, Matthew Ivan Bennett, Carlie Young, Tiffani DiGregorio and Daisy Blake. Plays Feb. 17 to March 4, Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Masks required for the following performances: Feb. 23 and March 2, 2023. Otherwise, masks recommended, but not required.
