Following the bombing of Pan Am 103, the residents of Lockerbie, Scottland and the American government collected over 11,000 articles of clothing from the crash. Following the conviction Libyan intelligence officer Abdelbaset al-Megrahi for the bombing the evidence, including the clothing of the victims was scheduled to be destroyed. Women in Lockerbie petitioned the American government to release the clothing to them, allowing them to wash the items and return them to the families.
In honor of their courageous endeavor, Pygmalion will be holding a clothing drive to benefit the YWCA Utah at each performance of The Women of Lockerbie. Our goal is to collect 1,000 new and gently used items to help women and children in our community. Donations can be delivered to the Rose Wagner Center for the Performing Arts (138 W. Broadway) before each performance, March 6 – 22.
